WHAT IS OPEN PLATFORM?

Open Platform is the technological concept wherein the owner of an interface allows other independent developers to create different applications ''within the framework'' of the interface. In some cases, the platform can be opened to service providers and other businesses. The is the case with DealerSERVE.

The logic behind DealerSERVE Open Platform is that the collective wisdom of independent developers and business entrepreneurs world-wide far supercede those of any group within a single organization.

OPEN SOURCE vs OPEN PLATFORM

In contrast to open platform, Open Source is the concept wherein the owner of a software exposes the original code behind the software. Other independent developers are allowed to program their own ideas ''on-top-of'' the original code, which for the must part, must remain intact. Although DealerSERVE itself is not open source, many developers use open source coding to create applications within the DealerSERVE framework.

NON-EXCLUSIVE OPEN PLATFORM

DealerSERVE is open to everybody -- all software developers, product vendors, business marketers, and service providers who qualify as ''business'' partners. Multiple partners can provide the same type of module within the platform giving customer more selections.

NO RE-BRANDING OF PARTNERS

Because DealerSERVE Open Platform does not re-brand partner modules, a customer has full knowledge of the company providing the module being used by the customer.
