CONSUMERS: For an individual consumer, buy local is the concept whereby a buyer is encouraged to buy products and services from stores, vendors, and service providers that are located in the local community where the consumer lives, works, plays, worships, goes to school... basically, where he/she exists.

The word ''buy'' has the idea of ''spending money.'' Therefore, buy local is all about ''where are you going to spend your money?'' Will you spend money where it benefits you, your family, your friends, and people who live in your immediate community; or would you rather send your money away to other communities?

Many services provided by your local city (e.g. parks, zoos, law enforcement, education) depend on the taxes received from businesses in the city. If the local people send their money to other communities, the immediate city where these people live will not have enough funds to provide better quality of life for the very same people. Buying locally is a smart thing to do.

BUSINESSES: For government agencies, organizational groups, and businesses, buy local is a methodology in which an entity strengthens its own position by ensuring the financial strength of the community where the entity exists.

The business buy local methodology includes (a) the buying of products and services from local vendors and providers (small businesses) and (b) the buying of time and expertise from local people (employees and consultants). These are the very same people, their families, friends, and neighbors who will patronize your business to guarantee the success of your business.
